When Is It?

Aug. 25, 2018, 1 p.m. - Aug. 25, 2018, 7 p.m.

What Is It?

An evening of fun with plenty of activities and games to entertain your whole family. The venue hosting us is a game/comic store so you can learn new games with us and then buy the ones you love from them at a discount!

Play Games

We have an ever growing collection of games available. All sorted by age range for you to enjoy. Just grab a game and play.

Don't have enough players? Grab a green flag, and set it on your table to attract more players.

Don't want to be interrupted? Grab a red flag to let others know.

There will be open tables to play with your friends (or make new ones) and guided tables where staff will be on hand to teach you the rules!

Activities For the Kids

Kids are fickle beasts with short attention spans, but don't worry we have that covered. Every Family Quest Knight has a dedicated activities table and coloring station, run by an actual parent!

So you can keep gaming while they go make slime, or color in a coloring book, or paint their very own Knight. In support of this years CoreCon theme, we even have a Super Hero (or villain) themed photo booth! Cosplay is always welcome.

The Quest

Every Family Quest Knight features a unique Quest, where your kids take on the role of Super Heroes in an ongoing effort to defeat the Worst Human Society.

The quest is what we call a 'free form' rpg; meaning the rules are made up as we go along. The game board is simple dry erase, and the pawns are just pieces we scavenged from other games, sculpted ourselves, or 3d printed.

Our goal with the Quest is to demonstrate the benefits of table top gaming, and prove that people of all ages can enjoy it. It doesn't need to be expensive, and you can get started without spending a dime.

It's as simple as asking a question. 'What would you do if...'

Benefits of Table Top RPGs

  • It unlocks the imagination. Not just for kids but friends and co-workers as well
  • It's team building; as the players have to work together against a common goal.
  • It's a natural ice breaker. No matter your social skill set you will find long term friends around a gaming table. Trust me, you will learn a lot about the people you game with even after just one session. This makes it an amazing tool for social gatherings, merging social circles, getting to know your co-workers or extended family, and especially for getting to know your kids.
  • It's Quality time, not Quiet time.
    • Video games are amazing tools to distract the little humans in your life, but board games and table top rpg's allow you to connect with your kids.
  • It leads to more hobbies and skills
    • Modelling/Sculpting - Many mini's you buy in the store require you to assemble them, but you can also grab some Popsicle sticks/foam/flock/etc and start building your own terrain and buildings
    • Painting - If you buy, or make your own, your game pieces are never more personalized than when you paint them yourself.
    • Writing - Why buy a campaign, when you can write your own? Table Top RPG's are nothing more than a collaborative form of storytelling.
    • 3d Printing - Printers are getting cheaper, and the internet is full of downloadable content you can print and paint to use in your campaigns. There are even simple online tools that allow you to design your own!
    • Carpentry - Why stop at the game pieces? Many gamer's are taking to their wood shops to build the 'perfect' gaming tables, better shelves for storing board games, or display cabinets to house their favorite miniatures.
  • It doesn't have to be expensive, or complicated. That said, it can grow with you. It never gets stale, and with new technology it can even keep friends connected for life.

There has never been a better time to introduce your family and friends to gaming
